Meaghan Heinrich lives in Birmingham, Alabama, where she is Education Manager of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra. She is passionately devoted to making great classical music accessible and inviting to people of all ages. In less than a year with the ASO, she has already received wide praise and recognition for her engaging Young People’s Concerts, interactive student workshops, and creatively informative pre-concert lectures for adults. Meaghan earned a Bachelor of Music degree in oboe performance from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music as a student of Mark Ostoich and a Master of Music degree from Rice University, where she studied with Houston Symphony Principal Oboist Robert Atherholt. In addition to her work with Asterisk, Meaghan performs regularly on oboe and English horn with the Alabama and Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestras. Previously, she held the 2nd oboe/English horn positions with the Evansville (IN) Philharmonic Orchestra and the Owensboro (KY) Symphony Orchestra. She currently sings in the soprano section of the Birmingham Concert Chorale and is a proud member of the local running community. Meaghan is married to ASO bassoonist Rudi Heinrich and they have two ferocious kittens, Professor Longhair and Coach Lloyd Carr.
