C. Neil Parsons was born into a theatrical family, and has been performing for as long as he can remember. Neil's experience as a musician/actor/ dancer extends back to the fourth grade, when he appeared in a professional production of The Music Man. For the role of Winthrop, he learned to play the trumpet (passably) while sporting dyed red hair and speaking/singing with a lisp. Eventually, Neil narrowed his focus, majoring in music at Interlochen Arts Academy, only to see it broaden again while attending Oberlin Conservatory. There, he studied Trombone Performance with Ray Premru and created an individual major entitled Interdisciplinary Performance & Education. He then began a graduate program at Ohio University, studying with trombonist Tony Baker and becoming immersed in the School of Dance. Neil left school one year later to join Tales & Scales and performed with the company for nine seasons. As a choreographer and director, he has made a specialty of collaborating with musicians, searching for new connections between music, dance, and theatre. In addition to his performing career, Neil is a yoga instructor and is Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork, focusing on the needs of performing artists. Neil and his girlfriend Hannah currently live in Bloomington, IN with Penny and Arthur, two small predatory mammals who spend most of their time napping, begging for food, and purring.
